Cosplay Competition Rules

 

Registration
Registration will begin at 1pm (at the opening of gates) and end at 3:30pm. The registration booth will be located at the back entrance. The registrant must present three (3) copies of a full body picture of the character. The entrant must wear the same outfit/costume come catwalk.

Registration for individual and group cosplayers will be SEPARATE. If for group cosplay, there need only be one representative.
  1. Please make sure that you register all your group members IMMEDIATELY.
  2. UP AME is limiting the number of group members to AT MOST 25 COSPLAYERS.
  3. Anyone not registered with the group will not be allowed to join your group later on.
  4. If by the time of catwalk your group is missing even one person, your group will be disqualified. (In other words, when you register, make sure that all your group members have already arrived.)

Costume
Costumes must be from any anime, manga, game, sentai, jpop/jrock/jfashion. Nudity will NOT be tolerated.

  1. If the cosplayer has a prop or costume weapon, s/he must secure it and use it only as a costume piece. Metal weapons will not be permitted under any circumstances. Cosplayers may use toy guns as substitute for real guns.
  2. Substances that can be potentially harmful to people or damaging to property or equipment will not be allowed. Such substances include but are not limited to: pyrotechnics, explosives, paint, cigarettes, or any slime. Please be informed that the comfort rooms of UP Ang Bahay ng Alumni are not exclusively for cosplayers. Tenants of nearby shops are also allowed to use the comfort rooms.

Prep Room
There will be a room assigned to cosplayers, location to be announced on the day itself. It will be open for cosplayers starting at 1PM. Also, please be informed that the comfort rooms of UP Ang Bahay ng Alumni are not exclusively for cosplayers. Tenants of nearby shops are also allowed to use the comfort rooms.

Catwalk
All entrants must adhere to the time limit for their appearance on stage. 30 seconds will be given to single cosplayers, 2 to 3 minutes will be given to group cosplayers without a skit and 3 to 6 minutes to group cosplayers with a skit. Cosplayers will be called out according to the order during registration.

  1. PROPS will have to be carried on and off the stage by the contestant or with the help of a (non-registered) assistant.
  2. No dangerous STUNTS will be allowed. If you plan on doing anything out of the ordinary during your catwalk, please inform the cosplay coordinators immediately. Any cosplayer who violates this rule will be immediately disqualified from the competition.

Criteria
The winner of the Cosplay competition will be decided by the judges in terms of this criteria:

  1. CHARACTERIZATION - the truthful depiction of the Cosplay to the character’s over-all personality.
  2. COSTUME - the closeness of the costume worn by the Cosplay to the costume of the character being cosplayed. Also, how the materials used for the costume making aid in the over-all appearance of the costume.
  3. CREATIVITY - the innovativeness in terms of the whole Cosplay proper.
  4. OTHER - audience impact, etc.

Agreement
UP AME may tape or photograph contestants at its discretion. Entry into this contest constitutes an agreement by the entrants to allow UP AME to use their pictures for publicity purposes in the future.

Eligibility
UP AME members, probies and alumni are NOT ELIGIBLE for entry into the Cosplay Competition.

* UP AME reserves the right to disqualify cosplayers who violate any of the rules stated here.
